Hello and welcome to another installment of my Lawless Luke blog. In my last blog I talked about my shiny new website. I also mentioned that there has been some big changes happening in the Lawless Luke camp. I’m conscious that I haven’t really spoke openly in public about these changes. So I thought it was probably time I gave you some insight.
What’s the news?
- First the big new is that I got married to my gorgeous wife Laura Janes in August last year! It was an absolutely epic day and the best day of my life without a doubt.
- We then decided to go traveling for 6 months for our honeymoon, which was a life changing experience to say the least. This is where we made the decision to go full time with music and we also became vegetarians!
- So I guess the big news for the Lawless Luke project is that I am now focusing full time on making this work.
Going traveling gave me and Laura a lot of time to focus on what’s important to us, and gave me some head space. I was in a well paid job and trying to do music on the side, but truth be told I wasn’t particularly happy in that role. I kind of found myself doing that work rather than really being passionate about it. Probably like most people in the world. I’ve always known my true calling was my music, but I was never quite sure how to make a living from it. I’m not sure I’ve figured that out yet, but me and the Mrs are giving it a bloody good go!
Time to sh*t or get off the pot
There comes a point in everyone’s life were I guess you either have to sh*t or get of the pot (I suppose that’s daily for most!). The biggest realisation for me was when I did a bungee jump in New Zealand. I realised that I was more terrified about quitting my job then jumping off a bridge with a piece of cord attached to my back. That’s when I knew I had to quit work and pursue my dream. You only get a certain amount of time allotted to you and you never quite know when it’s going to run out!
It boils down to a coin toss
My biggest fear in life is getting to the end of it and saying, “I should’ve done that thing really”. Some people have said that I’m brave for doing what I’m doing. I’m not sure I agree but the sentiments nice. For me it boils down to a simple coin toss. You either do it and to hell with the consequences or you don’t. We’ve done it and so far it’s working out pretty good. I won’t lie it takes a lot of adjusting and it’s not for everyone, but I wouldn’t have it any other way.
Follow the Lawless Luke journey and share the love!
So follow my wonderful journey as I embark on this crazy quest to bring my music to the world. Me and Laura have set up a cool rock and pop act called The Love Rats Duo. This is currently paying the bills and allowing me the time to focus on what I do best; making frigging awesome music. If you’d like to support me, subscribe to my newsletter, buy some stuff in my shop and share my music.
Take it easy till the next time.
Peace.
